Zakzaky's Shia Movement - Is this Administration Really That Lawless
The hate of Buhari is blinding some Nigerians about certain issues, some Igbo and other Nigerians will be the first one to comment about this administration not obeying court order because Zakzaky and Dusuki are still in jail, but they will forget that abusive Nnamdi Kanu was released and allowed to escape.
Others will not remember Buhari’s goal to Islamize Nigeria when advocating for the release of Zakzaky, others will applaud his followers for repeated demonstrations and recent attack at the National Assembly as a results of Buhari’s lawlessness and refusal to obey court orders. Even the tiv will decry Buhari’s lawlessness about Zakzaky but decry Islamization that the Shia movement is more militant about.
Even though they have been demonized has anyone really explored the philosophies and radical bent of the Shia movement. Are they not based in the same Zaria that has been the bastion of a virulent strain of Islamic radicalism that caused so many riots in Zaria forcing ABU to close repeatedly in the past several years, do we forget so soon even though they are currently being demonized.
While it is extremely unfortunate that Zakzakhy lost his sons during a demonstrative encounter with the Nigeria army, critical thinkers need to also understand the reckless militancy of the group in not obeying civil orders even when faced by the barrel of a gun.
Their fierce resistance to authority and orders led in part to the unforgivable gun shots that massacred them en-masse by the forward vanguard of Buratai escort guard and it is only a fool or a man wishing to meet his maker that challenges the Nigerian army.
The fact that the army unleashed its fury on the Shia just like it did against the Tiv and IPOB and in Ogoja and against Boko harem whose leader was killed and no one has been charged is lost on Nigerians in their singular focus on Buhari.
Even the Igbo who swear up and down that Buhari hates Igbo people cannot compare the regrettable and unpardonable killing of IPOB killings to the massacre of hundreds of Shia by the Nigerian Army, granted one was peaceful and the other menacing and intractable, the Nigerian army is a mad dog that is imperious to chaos be it under Obasanjo, Jonathan or the Fulani man called Buhari, their atrocities did not start today regardless of religion or ethnicity.
The recent outrage by the Shia group that stormed the National Assembly and killed some security personnel and their previous demonstration and brutal suppression by the army in Abuja with gunshots to show the finality of the government’s decision on Zakzaky and their invasion of NASS is an indication of the fanaticism and radicalization of the group, a dangerous ingredient that can explode into war from the NW if reprisal killings by the army go unchecked.
While Igbo commenters and other Nigerians focus on RUGA and perceived lawlessness of Buhari and his administration and the invitation of Uwazuriike for questioning he and Nnamdi Kanu and Ben Onwuka are now free while a prince of the hated and oppressive caliphate Dasuki is in jail, so what exactly is your complaint all about.
Zakzaky or his branch of the Shia are not a group to be cuddled or romanticized and many Christians and moderate Islam’s are aware and extremely weary of their radical strain of Islam comparable or even more militant than the ideology of Boko harem, they are not friends of Christians, women’s rights, or the hated nyamiri exactly or friends of the Shiite either and care must be taken in crucifying Buhari because of them until all the facts are thoroughly understood.
At the end of the day, any government seeking legitimacy needs to obey court orders but no one can dispute any governments arbitrary power to re-arrest and charge a national security target based on non-public information that can horrify the public and promote more unrest, national security is at the discretion of the security forces and one can only pray the exercise it judiciously.
It is time to focus on security issues for certain actions instead of the inordinate fascination to criticize Buhari baseless and non-critically for every single action
