In Defense of the Cow

It is tragic that there has been so much killing because of herdsman vs farmer clashes over the years to the point where the friendly domesticated cow is now the target of so much disdain.

Our mission as a nation should be to bring the criminals and murderous Fulani and nomadic militia hiding under cover of cow herding to commit grievous atrocities to book and secure justice and compensation for victims and not take out our anger on a COW.

Buhari’s is responsible for the animosity with his lackadaisical anafafd criminal partisanship conduct of withholding punishment that has blurred the issue for Nigerians about the national need to prevent our cows from going into extinction, just like our donkeys.

In a few years all our cattle can be wiped out due to disease, just look at the ugly cattle we eat and abandonment by the Fulani themselves due to logistics and we will have to import beef along with everything else by the tons, only then will Nigerians understand the national and food security issues in doing all you can to keep cows alive.

We also as a nation must not forget the importance of cows in the provision of meat and milk, our main sources of protein, nation’s take pride in its stock of cattle and the commit resources to multiplying and packaging the meat for exports, cattle supplies are also tracked by the stock markets of industrialized countries.

America has a powerful National Cattlemen’s Beef Association an extremely powerful lobby that is more diplomatic and persuasive than the criminally divisive, myopic and visionless miyetti Allah, that is attracting hatred with unguarded utterances, but the both share the mission of guarding and maintaining cow supplies, except that miyetti Allah is a tribal based organization of Fulani given their role as custodians of Nigeria cattle.

What is this flight to extreme sophistication and modernity and disdain for tradition and history that is gripping Nigerians to the point where the sight of cows patrolling, a sought after contrast white people would appreciate, is viewed with contempt instead of an appreciation of nature and a few minutes patience to allow they herd of cattle pass as long as they are not on a farm.

What is this rush to transform Nigeria to a cemented gated prison instead of blending with nature and planting fruit trees fast disappearing in Nigerian cities and even villages, it is so bad villagers these days no longer can find firewood to cook and they now have to buy fruits, and no one keeps chickens or goats anymore because the defecate all over the place according to some sophisticated Nigerians.

On the issue of cows and herdsmen being featured on pages of passports what better mascot can Nigeria not have on our passport pages than a cow used for suya and pepper soup and as payment of bride prices by the wealthy or braggadocio stories of the number of cows killed for an event, even the blood of cows are saved for pepper soup.

One day Nigerians will recount with nostalgia the times when they could mingle with herdsmen and they with us, trading and Mayetta buying fura de nono and counting cows as the pass along when they must pay to see a cow in a decrepit Nigerian standard zoo.
