Kwankwansiya Crowds - Much ado about nothing
Kano is the capital of the Hausa kingdom and has always blazed an independent streak.
They are a distinct unit, so distinct Obasanjo had to create the PRP for them that produced Aminu Kano and Abubakar Rimi.
Now it seems like Kwankwaso has inherited the mantle from Aminu Kano or at least in Kano while Sule Lamido holds Jigawa under lockdown.
Things to remember that despite their popularity none of them was able to translate it into capturing the presidential tickets of their parties and their influence is strictly in Old Kano state.
Kano and Jigawa however are predominately Muslim under the control of the Emir of Kano who incidentally appears to be against Buhari philosophically, but certainly not religiously.
Needless to say Buhari is also a religious movement unto himself and he has declared an intent and commitment to promote sharia something Atiku has run away from doing plus Atiku ownes the haram American University that the almajari will certainly decry during their daily prayers aided by pious Imams.
We will find out after the elections, but I would be extremely careful of translating they crowds and the kwankwasiya red caps out in force for Atiku today into a landslide of votes for Atiku, quite the opposite.
The crowds in my estimation are gawkers and are there as the last expression of resentment against Buhari for the poor economy and his tight fisted ness.
Northern Islamists however are calculating creatures and at the polls they will remember Atiku is a moderate Muslim with a predilection for harem and a fondness for non Muslims and foreign women.
Even the king of Adamawa is for Buhari and the North knows Atiku is set to reclaim the power of the North with Nyamiri people so soon after Nnamdi Kanu and his Biafra Radio.
The north is more comfortable with the present arrangement with the Yoruba and Oshimole from Edo and it would be political suicide to lose control to the dogs and baboons from the south because of Atiku.
Gandollar is also in Buhari’s corner in Kano so don’t be to hasty to think Atiku will win.
The election results will answer these questions and if you think a red blooded Yoruba man will trade Professor Osibanjo for (China) Obi you will be in for a shocker.
Either way this election will offer concrete statistical evidence of the state of the Nigerian tribal and religious union.
