PRESIDENT BUHARI’S DESTINED TO FAIL PROVINCIAL ECONOMIC POLICIES
Where is Nigeria’s Minister of State, Kachikwu?
Apparently, he has been sidelined in favor of Baru searching for crude in the lake chad Basin.
It is not enough that Nigeria has been structured on a ridiculously, uneconomic and wasteful system of drilling in the south and pipelining the crude all the way up to Kaduna for refinement.
Now Buhari has become fixated with finding oil in the north to complete his economic linkage plan after the planned completion of the dry inland port and a railway linking from there all the way to Chad and Cameroon for his Kanuri relative smugglers to prosper selling petrol and other banned items without paying Nigeria excise duties unlike the militarized border around Lagos with the republic of Benin.
You can almost feel the gasping for air exasperation of Buhari as he is confronted with yet another failure to find crude and I can hear his iron willed response to keep on drilling to find oil at all costs so he and the north can be rid or done with Niger Delta Igbo oil before he leaves office.
In the meantime, as he pursues these provincial policies he is shooting Nigeria in the foot by refusing to infuse passion into the completion of the 2nd Niger Bridge and expanding the inland ports of the east to handle capacity and relieve the stress on Lagos, in the meantime the gridlock in Lagos is driving up inflationary costs.
On the other hand undermining his grand design for the north is his kid gloves treatment by putting former Boko Harem combatants through de-radicalization camps and releasing them back into circulation to continue poisoning the minds of their people after all in his mind they are just misguided fundamentalists advocating for something ideal but not realistic in Nigeria today, but maybe in the future.
Long term, what he does not understand is the resource curse that will ensure that oil found in the north will not even be enjoyed by the North and the realistic fact that Kanuri Boko haremists will sabotage and destroy any million-dollar pipelines sending their commonwealth to Kaduna for refinement for ONE Nigeria.
As he wastes money on this search and divides focus, the refineries in the Delta are dysfunctional and needing funds for urgent repairs that he is wasting on his endless billion naira search for crude in lake chad and he will not sign the PIB bill or allow for Niger Delta indigenes to refine crude as businesses afterall why should or how date any Igbo or is it an Ijaw man become rich.
His Airforce to his credit has bombed all those illegal refineries to dust and crude waste in one of the most furious and underreported bombing Campaigns in Nigeria’s history. The militants have been decimated into silence, no one hears anything about clean up or scholarships.
Cases of lifting unmetered fuel have been reduced and the government is most likely collecting all receipts but his spilt focus and refusal to tackle the northern cabalistic mafia dominating oil sales is contributing to the refineries operating at a loss and NNPC is still an accounting nightmare.
When will Nigeria get nationalistic leaders to take us to the promised land because it is clear Buhari’s provincial policies will crash Nigeria deeper into poverty.
When will our leaders wake up, someone please wake them up to the reality of one Nigeria and a shared destiny?
